I am a Toronto-based writer, editor and fact checker at Clean Eating magazine with experience reporting on a diverse range of topics, from food, fashion and culture, to politics, human interest stories and social issues.
My work has been published in a variety of print and online publications, including Clean Eating magazine, the London Free Press, Mississauga Life Magazine, fashionmagazine.com, Men’s FASHION, Plaid Magazine, Knew Daily, The Tyee, Rabble.ca and the Queen’s Alumni Review. In 2010, I interned at the CBC News Network Planning Desk, where I worked as a chase producer and conducted interviews for news stories that aired on The National.
I hold a Master of Arts in Journalism degree from The University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree from Queen’s University in Drama and Political Studies.
Why Journalism?
After graduating from Queen’s in 2008, I spent the summer working at an NGO in Pune, India. While living and working in marginalized communities, I observed how local newspapers and television/radio stations would keep residents informed about more than just the news – scheduled water shortages, electricity outages or warnings about an outbreak of disease were reported almost weekly. Not only does the presence of media in developing countries help maintain and enhance the quality of life, but they can also influence people to become more active citizens when it comes to improving community health care and infrastructure. I truly believe that good journalism, in all of its mediums, can bring about widespread social change in communities around the world. Through the power of the written or spoken word, journalists have the potential to make a difference in people’s lives and give voice to those whose stories may not be heard otherwise.
